a little about me

Hello and thanks so much for being here! I’m Bek MacGeekie. Growing up I had the nickname “Cheeky MacGeekie”, partly because of the size my cheeks expand to when I laugh, and partly because of my sense of humour. I was raised in the North East where not taking yourself seriously is a necessary tool for survival.

I’m now based in Brighton, my all time favourite place. I’m in the LGBTQ+ community AND vegan so I really do feel at home here.

I have a son: my rescue pup from Battersea Dogs Home who goes by the following names: Buddy, BudBud, Little Muffin, Gremlin Bat Dog and Scruff Monster. I adopted him whilst volunteering there and he is so adorable it makes me want to cry on a daily basis.

I’m also a devoted plant mum to an ever-growing amount of house plants.

When I'm not creating films or finding foliage to take photos through, you’ll find me editing/drinking tea at my co-working space, strolling the beach with the pup, learning lines (I’m also a part-time actor), making a mess in the kitchen, rolling out the yoga mat or getting competitive playing games at the pub with friends.

a little about what I do

What’s my mission?
To tell honest stories, make genuine connections with people (and dogs!), spread joy with my work, create a legacy, elevate mission-led businesses.

What exactly do I do?
In a nutshell, I tell visual stories, I capture connections, emotions, messages, moments in time.

Why do I love my job?
I believe there is magic in storytelling and reliving memories. My photographs and films are a way of gifting this magic to others. Creating something that will last a lifetime + more truly motivates me; my legacy is giving people a way of keeping their legacy alive. Connection, storytelling and purpose is at the heart of everything I do. I want to live a life full of feeling, fulfilment and intent and when your actions and your work align with your values, the result is loving what you do!

Am I Qualified?
I am! I did my degree in TV production and studied film and media at A-Levels. I worked in the TV industry for a while before becoming a restaurant manager, I then worked as a marketing executive at a small theme park, had a brief stint as a digger driver (there’s a story for another day) before setting up my first videography/photography business 10 years ago!

Why is my doggo so cute?
Great question!
